Scuba Divers Federation of South Australia Events

SDFSA holds events throughout the year to bring together divers, snorkelers and all others interested in the sport and the marine environment. In addition, we occasionally list events of interest to our members.

Port Noarlunga Jetty Centenary: SDFSA Event Sunday 12 December

It’s Porties’ 100th birthday!
Let’s put 100 divers in the water to celebrate!

Sunday, 12 December at the Port Noarlunga jetty. Registration opens at 9am; diving between 10 and 1pm.

Adelaide’s most popular dive site, the Port Noarlunga jetty, turns 100 in December. We want to put 100 divers in the water to celebrate! Come and join the Scuba Divers Federation of SA (SDFSA) in the festivities by being one of those 100 divers. No buddy? No problem! We are an inclusive lot in the SA dive community and we will help you join in with others.

The entry fee for DiveFest100 is only $10.00 – which includes a commemorative mask tamer and a chance to win one of 24 prizes totalling over $4000! Thanks to the generous support of the dive industry and local businesses, we have a wide range of prizes available, from training, to tours, to gear. What a great way to celebrate the 100 years of the Port Noarlunga jetty!

Sign up right away on Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/port-noarlunga-jetty-divefest100-jettyfest100-tickets-210550290587?aff=ebdssbdestsearch&keep_tld=1

Registration on Sunday 12 December will be at the SDFSA Marquee near the entrance to the jetty from 9am onwards. Divers can enter the water anytime between 10am and 1pm. The draw will take place between 2pm and 3pm.

Come join us to have a great dive and maybe win a fantastic prize. We would like to thank the sponsors for their incredibly generous donations to this event.

SDFSA at Science Alive! 19, 20, 21 November at the Adelaide Showgrounds

SDFSA was there, promoting diving for science and recreation to the next generation of scuba, freedivers and snorkellers. Our thanks to Adelaide Scuba for the donation of a Try Dive with mask and snorkel pack for our draw.

SDFSA Mini Scuba Week, March 2021

In response to the pandemic, rather than hosting several large events, the SDFSA took our marquee out to where divers gather — Edithburgh and Port Noarlunga. Sadly we had to postpone a Rapid Bay event due to poor conditions. We were also supporting the Dive for Cancer gala dinner to announce the SDFSA Lifetime Members awards, also postponed to later this year.

Science Alive! 2020, Nov. 6-8

The SDFSA had a booth at Science Alive! next to Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries. As a volunteer community organisation, we were given free exhibition space, tables and signage. This was our first time to exhibit at Science Alive — it was a fantastic experience, a chance to introduce young people to the role of scuba in marine science and archaeology and an opportunity to connect with people who hadn’t been in the water for a while but were interested in taking up the sport again. Our thanks to the organisers for their generous support. We will be back in 2021!

SA Scuba Week 2019

The inaugural SDFSA SA Scuba Week was held from 17th– 23rd of November 2019.  It was established to bring together the South Australian SCUBA, free-diving and snorkelling community to promote camaraderie, to showcase our sport in order to encourage others to participate, and to celebrate South Australia’s unique marine and freshwater environments for diving.

Read here for our brief report on the outcomes of the event. Based on its success, the SDFSA hopes to repeat the event in 2021.

We wish to thank all our sponsors for their generous contributions!
