Scuba Divers Federation of South Australia Events
SDFSA holds events throughout the year to bring together divers, snorkelers and all others interested in the sport and the marine environment. In addition, we occasionally list events of interest to our members.
Celebrate Scuba this March! SDFSA’s “mini” Scuba week(s)
The SDFSA will be coming to you this month to share in your love of all things scuba, freediving and snorkelling. You will find the SDFSA Marquee and SDFSA Committee members at the following locations and dates (weather permitting):
- Edithburgh jetty: Saturday, 6th March, 10 am – 2pm.
- Rapid Bay jetty: Saturday, 13th March, 10 am – 2 pm.
- Port Noarlunga jetty, in concert with Dive for Cancer: Sunday, 21 March, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
Drop by the Marquee to say hi and chat with us about what you love about diving in South Australia and how we can help to make South Australia a world class diving destination.
March is a great month for celebrating diving – come to hear Dr. Richard Harris at the Dive for Cancer gala dinner; or join the dive itself on Sunday at Port Noarlunga, and stay for the sausage sizzle (tickets on Eventbrite). You can catch a film too at the Ocean Film Festival on Saturday 20 March: Matinee 2-5pm; Evening 7-10pm. Held at the Capri Theatre, Goodwood.
Science Alive! 2020, Nov. 6-8
The SDFSA had a booth at Science Alive! next to Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries. As a volunteer community organisation, we were given free exhibition space, tables and signage. This was our first time to exhibit at Science Alive — it was a fantastic experience, a chance to introduce young people to the role of scuba in marine science and archaeology and an opportunity to connect with people who hadn’t been in the water for a while but were interested in taking up the sport again. Our thanks to the organisers for their generous support. We will be back in 2021!
SA Scuba Week 2019
The inaugural SDFSA SA Scuba Week was held from 17th– 23rd of November 2019. It was established to bring together the South Australian SCUBA, free-diving and snorkelling community to promote camaraderie, to showcase our sport in order to encourage others to participate, and to celebrate South Australia’s unique marine and freshwater environments for diving.
Read here for our brief report on the outcomes of the event. Based on its success, the SDFSA hopes to repeat the event in 2021.
